Krakhuna is local white grape sort, which fives European and Imeretian type wines.

Generally Krakhuna is well-known in Imerety. It was born from Kolkhetian hearth of grape sorts formation. Krakhunas main difference from west Georgian enterprising grape sorts is earlier (for one period) ripeness and oval form of grain.

Nowadays Krakhunas diffuse areas are middle Imeretys villages: Sviri, Kvaliti, Obcha, Dimi, Phersati, Baghdati, Zestaphoni, lower Saqara, Argveta and etc.

Krakhuna pertains to winery grape sort because of its clusters affected view, and most grains mechanical composition and chemical staff of juice.

Between the same harvest conditions Krakhuna accumulates the most quantity of sugar. Its sugarness can be raised till 28-20% according to location and separate year meteorological conditions. The most number of sugars Krakhuna accumulates in middle Imerety region villages as: Zestaphoni, Baghdati, Chiatura and Terjola. In higher Imerety Kharagauli, Chiatura and Sachkhere regioms it is characterized with comparatively less ability of accumulation of sugars, despite that its sugariness is higher than another sorts. Generally Kkrakhuna ripes earlier than Tsitska and Tsolikouri and everywhere accumulates more sugars than them.

Krakhuna grape sort on the whole is used to produce Imeretian and European type table wines.

In middle Imerety, Zestaphoni and Baghdati regions is producing Imeretian and European type high quality table wine from Krakhuna sort grapes. From this side is especially distinguished section of Kvaliti-Sviri with its soils. On the soils of this area Krakhuna gives high quality, full, in higher Imerety, Krakhuna gives better material for European type wines than Imeretian wines of this category.

Krakhuna gives high quality table wine, European style made Krakhuna wine is yellowish-straw colored, characterized with fullness and pleasant taste, Imeretian type wine is dark colored, amberish-yellow, characterized with selfish breed aroma, energy, big body and slightly roughness in young age.

After conservation wine gets better, it receives pretty golden-yellow color, develops strong breedy bouquet, in which is seen tar taste and it becomes more tender and harmonious.

After log conservation Krakhuna develops strong bouquet, tender taste and becomes more harmonious, harshness of young wine especially made from late-time harvest, disappears soon and wine becomes pleasant and harmonious. Wine is ripes in barrels for 3-3,5years, after this yers it can be replaced for consecutive olding.

High quality taste characters Krakhuna developes is age of 10-15 years, and is characterized with long life duration (40-50 years).

The Winery Karasani produces European and Imeretian type white dry wines from Krakhuna sort of grapes.
